Police Blotter: Man Busted Trying to Exchange Drugs for Sex

Police Reports from Sept. 1-7.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Westport Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

A Bridgeport man was busted in a prostitution sting after he posted a Craigslist ad seeking sex in exchange for drugs on Sept. 7. According to the report, Casey Curtiss, 29, arranged to meet with two undercover female detectives to trade six ecstasy pills for sex. When he arrived and provided the pills, he was arrested. Curtiss was charged with two counts of patronizing a prostitute, possession of a hallucinogenic substance and sale of a hallucinogenic. His bail was set at $25,000 and he is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 17.

John Valiante, 22, of Compo Road South, was arrested on Sept. 7 after tampering with an ATM at Walgreens. According to the report, police were called to Walgreens on the report of a suspicious person near the ATM. Police saw that the machine had been tampered with and rendered unusable. Valiante was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and was released on a promise to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 17.

Pawel Pienczykowski, 22, of Bridgeport, turned himself in at the police department on Aug. 7 after missing a court date in 2009. Pienczykowski was wanted for failing to appear on motor vehicle charges in 2009. His bail was set at $2,500 and he is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 17.

Ruth Castillo, 48, of Stamford, was arrested on Sept. 1 at 4:05 p.m. on a charge of failure to pay or plead. According to the report, Castillo turned herself in after being told there was a warrant for her arrest. She was originally arrested for motor vehicle charges. Castillo's bail was set at $2,500 and she is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 13.

A Groton man was arrested for having a martial arts-type sword in his car on Sept. 3 at 5:25 p.m. According to the report, Joseph James, 26, was pulled over when a computer check of his license revealed that his registration was suspended. Inside the trunk of the vehicle was a large sword. James was charged with possession of a weapon in a vehicle and bail was set at $1,000. He is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 13.
