Saugatuck Center Begins First Phase

The development is slated for completion in early 2011.

An art rendering of Phase I of the Saugatuck Center is displayed on Riverside Avenue, depicting the waterfront retail, residential and office development to come on the banks of the Saugatuck River.

Slated to be completed by early 2011, the development features traditional New England style architecture designed by Norwalk-based Beinfield Architecture PC. The "Marsh" and "Tide" waterside buildings depicted on the sign will house 4,000 square feet of retail space on the street level, as well as 5,000 square feet of office space overlooking the water and six residential apartments on the second floor.

Developers say the first phase will begin the area's transformation "back to a bustling riverside community, where people will be able to shop, dine, work and live in a small-scale, pedestrian friendly neighborhood."  Peter Lane, owner/broker of OpenHouseBroker, LLC, a direct-to-market real estate brokerage company, is handling retail, office and residential leasing, and can be contacted at 203-222-3232 and peter@OpenHouseBroker.com.
