Westporter of the Week: Patty Haberstroh
Patty Haberstroh may not look like Santa Claus, but she brings holiday magic to hundreds of Westport families in need through the town’s Holiday Giving Program.
Name: Patty Haberstroh
Age: 61
Occupation: I am privileged to work for the Westport Department of Human Services coordinating programs for families and children in need here in Westport. Currently, I am in the midst of the town-wide Holiday Giving Program which fulfilled the holiday wishes of 463 residents last year. I also coordinate the PYD Positive Youth Development collaboration here in Westport.
How long have you lived in Westport? Charlie and I moved with our four kids to Westport from Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1990.
Favorite place in Westport? Other than relaxing with my family at home, I love my walks in our neighborhood, up north of the Red Barn.
Favorite restaurant in Westport? Definitely Dunville's! Everything's delicious, prices are very good and it's the closest thing to Cheers that you can find. Great London Broil, lobster specials and the Chicken Jacqueline is excellent and named after my daughter-in-law! (Her dad, Dan, just happens to be the co-owner.) Try it, you'll like it!
Why Westport? Originally, we moved here to be close to my brother and sister-in-law. Smart move! While our kids were growing up, we enjoyed the schools, the recreation facilities sports and volunteer opportunities. Now, in addition, we appreciate the friendships we've made and enjoy giving back a bit to our community.
