Learn to Play Guitar, Meet the "Brain Games" Producer

Here's what's going on in and around town on Tuesday, Oct. 1: 

• Learn what you need to get started playing guitar, including tuning, rudimentary technique and understanding of music notation and tablature using familiar songs to make learning fun in Westport.

• Jason Odell Williams, playwright and producer of the National Geographic series "Brain Games," discusses his new young adult novel Personal Statement, about teens who will stop at nothing to write the perfect college essay, in Westport Tuesday. 
  
  
• A monthly support group for post-treatment cancer survivors will be held at the Wilton Library Tuesday. The Breast Cancer Survival Center, a Fairfield county non-profit, has been holding support groups, retreats and candle lightings for the past 12 years.
