The Westport Republican Town Committee (RTC) is now accepting applications for those interested in filling the current vacancy on the Westport Board of Education. The Westport RTC’s Board Education Vacancy Committee will interview qualified candidates and make a recommendation to the Board of Education on a replacement for member James Marpe. Mr. Marpe, who served as the Board of Education’s Vice Chairman, recently resigned his post in order to run for the Westport First Selectman’s office in 2013.
Registered Westport Republicans who are interested in being considered for the Board of Education vacancy should contact Karen Hess, Chairwoman of the Westport RTC’s Board of Education Vacancy Committee at 917-270-1337 or karenchess@sbcglobal.net. The candidate selected and approved by the Board of Education will serve out Mr. Marpe’s term, ending in November 2013.
Candidates for the Board of Education vacancy will be given a detailed questionnaire and should be prepared to discuss their skills and qualifications with the RTC’s Board of Education Vacancy Committee in an interview. Interviews will be scheduled the week of November 26.
