Sailing School has hired Jane Pimentel, of South Norwalk, as General
Manager of Greenwich Community
Sailing in Greenwich, CT, a full-time position which she stared in
"We are so pleased to have Jane on board at Greenwich Community Sailing," said John Kantor, owner of Longshore Sailing School. "Her excellent record of sailing and teaching experience and her enthusiasm for the sport are a perfect combination as we start our 54th summer, and we all look forward to working with her."
Ms. Pimentel is a United States Sailing Association certified Level 1 Instructor Trainer, Small Boat Level 3 Coach and Powerboat Instructor. She is also certified by the US Sailing Association as a STEM educator.
In 2012 she received the US Sailing Association Excellence in Instruction Award, “in recognition of an individual that has consistently demonstrated excellence in instructing, training, or making presentations at local, regional, or national seminars, conferences, or workshops.”
Ms. Pimentel was formerly Program Director at Community
Boating Center, Inc. in New Bedford, MA, where she ran sailing and power
boating programs for both children and adults.
"This is a very good move for me," says Ms. Pimentel. "I loved working at Community Boating Center, but I am thrilled to join GCS this season!”
While at the New Bedford Community Boating Center, Ms. Pimentel increased program participation and implemented US Sailings REACH program into school sailing programs, in addition to reaching broader clientele in support of adult and power boating programs through internet marking and social media.
She also managed the staff, planned events and created new
opportunities for sailors to participate in local junior circuit.
Before her directorship in New Bedford, she served as Optimist Coach for the Sarasota Youth Sailing Program and Venice Youth Boating Association, both in Florida.
Ms. Pimentel grew up in Dartmouth, MA, sailing at Community Boating Center.
