Westport and Fairfield community leaders will join together for a new and unusual event on October 25 at The Patterson Club. A CHANCE TO DANCE is a fundraiser created as a 'Dancing-with-the-Stars" style competition. Six community leaders including Westport Arts Center Exec. Director Peter Van Heerden and Fairfield First Selectman Mike Tetreau have graciously agreed to take on roles as local celebrity dancers. Each will be performing on the dance floor with a professional partner to compete for The Mirrorball Trophy and The People's Choice Award. They have been practicing for months! The panel of distinguished judges consists of Westporters Bill Mitchell and former Broadway dancer Carole Schweid as well as Fairfield University Men's Basketball Coach Sydney Johnson. Westport Country Playhouse Managing Director Michael Ross will emcee the event, which is a benefit for POSITIVE DIRECTIONS, The Center for Prevention and Recovery, of Westport. VISIT the vent website: http://www.achancetodance.us for more info, to buy tickets and to vote for your favorite dancer. No tickets sold at the door.
