Renowned Family Therapist to talk about relationships between parents and children at Westport Country Playhouse Literary Salon

Are you are a parent pulling your hair out from your teenager who is constantly wrestling with you over control?    On Tuesday, August 27, at 7 p.m., “Books Worth Talking About,” a literary salon series at Westport Country Playhouse, will feature Dr. Donald Cohen, author and renowned authority on marital and child psychology.  Dr. Cohen will speak about the challenges of family relationships and raising teens in the 21st century, a theme that will continue in the 8 p.m. performance of “Oblivion,” a world premiere play.  The provocative new work by Carly Mensch, a writer for Showtime’s “Nurse Jackie” and “Weeds,” is about parents and teenagers, and the gulf that often exists between them.

Dr. Cohen, a Weston resident, is co-author of the critically acclaimed book, “My Father, My Son,” and creator/host of the weekly television and radio show, “Kids Are Talking.”  A licensed family therapist whose practice focuses on teen issues, he has lectured extensively on subjects related to children.

“Books Worth Talking About,” sponsored by Catamount Wealth Management, is the creative collaboration of Westport Country Playhouse and Westport-based international literary public relations firm Meryl L. Moss Media Relations, Inc. (www.mediamuscle.com).  The literary salon series provides an opportunity to interact with prominent authors and explore ideas and themes which enrich the theater-going experience.   Meryl Moss, who is celebrating 20 years of working with authors, will moderate this event. Moss founded her firm in 1993 to promote and brand books and authors through media exposure, speaking engagements, and creative marketing solutions. She has known Dr. Cohen for many years, having promoted his first book.
