The Watermark at 3030 Park Hosts Parkinson's Support Group and Bi-Weekly Fitness Classes

On Thursday, March 13, The Watermark at 3030 Park will host its monthly Parkinson’s Support Group meeting, along with its Parkinson’s Fitness Class. The support group will be held at 10:00 a.m. on March 13. Fitness classes are held every Tuesday at 2:30 and every Thursday at noon at the senior living community, located at 3030 Park Avenue on the Bridgeport-Fairfield town line.

 

This month’s guest speaker will be Cindy McGuire, Fitness Director at The Watermark and instructor of the Parkinson’s fitness classes. She will be discussing the importance of physical activity for people living with Parkinson’s as a way to maintain balance and continue living an active lifestyle.

“As a fitness instructor and developer of the Parkinson’s Fitness Class, Cindy is able to provide our residents and guests with a unique perspective when it comes to maintaining daily function while living with Parkinson’s,” said Marlane Argianas, Resident Services Coordinator at The Watermark at 3030 Park. “We encourage anyone who may find it helpful to start attending either our support group or fitness class.”

McGuire is certified with the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America as a group exercise instructor, and has more than 25 years of experience working with seniors. McGuire also teaches Anatomy and Physiology at Sacred Heart University.

 

The bi-weekly group fitness class is designed specifically for those who have Parkinson’s disease. The class, which meets every Tuesday and Thursday, consists of a warm-up, balance and strengthening exercises, and a cool down/stretch period.
