Westport Financial Planner Named To America’s Top 1,000 Financial Advisors

WESTPORT, Conn. – Ira Millman, C.F.P., managing director and private wealth advisor with UBS Financial Services, Inc., has been named to the Barron’s 2013 list of Top 1,000 Financial Advisors in America. Millman, who became a certified financial planner in 1993, was also named to the list in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

 

A resident of Westport since 1994, Millman received his Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in English literature from Queens College in 1978. In 1998, Millman was designated as a certified investment management analyst (C.I.M.A.) by the Wharton School of Business. Recently, Millman was designated as an accredited investment fiduciary analyst (A.I.F.A.) by the Center of Fiduciary Studies at the University of Pittsburgh, Katz Business School. He has also been awarded the certified private wealth advisor (C.P.W.A.) designation by the University of Chicago, Booth Business School.

Millman is a founding member of the UBS wealth management advisory council. He also serves as chair of the UBS portfolio management program advisory council. Millman is a member of the Investment Management Consulting Association, the Financial Planning Association and the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. He is a national ambassador for the Weizmann Institute of Science.

Millman is a longtime supporter of the National MS Society. He has served on the Connecticut Chapter board of trustees for more than 12 years. He is chair of the investment committee and is a founding sponsor of the chapter’s MS Dinner of Champions, a black tie dinner event honoring America’s business and professional sports all-stars.

Barron’s list of Top 1,000 identifies the industry’s most experienced financial advisors. Typical honorees average 26 years of experience and, according to Barron, boast a client retention rate of about 98 percent annually. Barron’s list of Top 1,000 focuses on wealthy families with an average net worth of $24 million. Millman has been named to the list for the past four consecutive years.

 

The UBS Halbfinger Millman Group, of which Millman is the senior partner, provides financial planning, portfolio management, investment advice and legacy planning.
