Bridge Street Bridge Closed for Repairs Wednesday, Thursday

The town has been notified that the Bridge Street swing bridge, whose official name is the William J. Cribari Bridge, will be closed to vehicular and marine traffic on Wednesday, May 8, and Thursday, May 9, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for repair work. Pedestrian and bicycles will not be impeded.

The contractor, Cianbro Construction Co., said that bridge components which had been sent out for refurbishment are being returned and will be reinstalled. There will also be closures in the coming weeks, but will be shorter in duration and less intrusive to the traveling public. Public notice will be given in advance.

Signs and markings for detour routes will be posted, First Selectman Gordon Joseloff said.

“The town regrets any inconvenience the bridge closure will cause. We thank citizens for their patience and cooperation," he said in a statement released on Monday.
