Bridge Street Bridge to Close Briefly Tuesday

The Bridge Street swing bridge will be temporarily closed on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 10 a.m. The contractor, Cianbro Corporation, will be testing bridge operation procedures following repairs, according to a release from the First Selectman's Office. 

“The opening will be done as if it was for a vessel,” Cianbro Field Superintendent Gary Nash said.

The bridge -- known officially as the William F. Cribari Memorial Bridge -- will be closed to traffic for approximately 15 minutes. If needed, a second bridge opening, identical in procedure to the first, will be conducted one half hour later to allow traffic to clear up. 

“The town regrets any inconvenience the bridge closure will cause.  We thank citizens for their patience and cooperation,” First Selectman Gordon Joseloff said.
