Flash Flood Warning in Effect Until Monday Afternoon

A flash flood warning for Southeastern Connecticut has been issued until 12:30 p.m. on Monday, according to the National Weather Service. Flooding may occur from a thunderstorm approaching the area.

"Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creaks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage ares and low lying spots," the warning states.

For Westport specifically, between a quarter and a half-inch of rain is expected to fall over the town on Monday, with another quarter to half-inch possible Monday night. There will also be areas of fog expected throughout the day, according to NWS. Showers and thunderstorms will continue tonight before midnight with a low around 71 degrees.
