Stratford Woman Wins $100,000 Lottery Prize

Find out what she plans on doing with the money, and, of course, where in town she bought the lucky ticket!

This is a press release from CT Lottery:

Do you have a motto when it comes to playing CT Lottery scratch games?  Therese Shea of Stratford found a good one.  After she discovered a sixth "red" word match – MOTTO – on her "$100,000 Cashword 6" ticket, Shea knew instantly that she was one of the game’s $100,000 top prize winners.

“I knew there had to be a sixth word somewhere on the ticket because there isn't a prize level for five red words.  It took a while, but we found it—it was MOTTO!” Shea said, with an ear-to-ear grin.

$100,000 Cashword 6, a hugely popular crossword-puzzle style of game, is an “extended play” instant game.  The $10 ticket takes more time to play than a standard ticket, and the prizes that can be won are built upon how many matches are made as the play is completed.  Clearly, Shea agrees.  "It’s one of the reasons why I like playing Cashword.  It’s fun; it takes time to play, and it’s a challenge.”

Shea declared another motto when she arrived at Lottery headquarters in Rocky Hill with her son, Daniel, to claim her $100,000 lottery prize.  “You don’t see this kind of thing very often, so you have to be smart about it.  I’m going to put the money away and invest it!”

For selling Shea her top prize winning $100,000 Cashword 6 ticket, Alltown Stratford #756, located at 7294-7296 Main St. in Stratford, will receive a $1,000 bonus from the CT Lottery.

There are 20 top prizes in the game $100,000 Cashword 6 with 19 more top prizes remaining to be claimed. Odds of winning a prize in $100,000 Cashword 6 are 1 in 3.21.

The CT Lottery reminds the public that purchasers must be 18 or older, and to please play responsibly. For information about the CT Lottery, call (860) 713-2700, or visit ctlottery.org.
