Westport Doctor Explains Importance of 2013 Mental Health Awareness Month

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month.

Dr. Paul Epstein, a naturopathic physician who specializes in mindful healing psychotherapy, said mental health month this year is especially important because of the recent tragedies our region of the country has faced.

"There are no magic cures and quick fixes," said Epstein, who has offices in Westport and Norwalk. "We have to be resilient and face our stress, and learn from it, and grow from it."

Epstein spoke about stress awareness at Greenwich Town Hall Wednesday to a crowd of about 250 people. He speaks to crowds in Fairfield County regularly about mindfulness and meditation, and stress management.

"We take care of our physical health by exercising and dieting. We also need to take care of our mental health," Epstein said.
