Westport's Maker Faire Draws a Crowd on Jesup Green

Westport State Rep. Jonathan Steinberg (D-136), joined by other state and local officials, attended the Westport Library Maker Faire Saturday on Jesup Green.

The exhibits at the event are intended to showcase creativity, resourcefulness, and invention in a hands-on environment.

Connecticut's second Maker Faire, which will run until 4 p.m., was also attended by Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4).

"This exciting event showcases some of Westport's greatest talents, emphasizes the importance of learning and creativity, and brings the community closer together," Himes said. "I am always happy to support local artists and innovators."

The event is sponsored by the Westport Library and Remarkable STEAM. The 2012 Maker Faire drew more than 2,000 people to Jesup Green and the Westport Library.

State Sen. John McKinney, State Rep. Gail Lavielle and Westport First Selectman Gordon Joseloff also attended the event.
