Buying Art to Save the Children

The second day of heART for Haiti begins at noon today.

Friday's heART for Haiti event drew a steady crowd at Rockwell Art and Framing in Westport.

Local artists donated 118 pieces of art ranging in price from $50 to $3,000 to benefit Save the Children's efforts in Haiti. Five art galleries throughout Fairfield County are participating in the event with a goal of raising $1 million.

Save the Children has been working in Haiti for 25 years and sent additional staff and resources to respond to the 7.0-magnitude earthquake that struck Port-au-Prince Jan. 12.
