Fairfield County Children's Choir "A Tribute to the US Armed Forces"

Fairfield County Children's Choir Salutes U.S. Armed Forces with 15th Season Finale

The Fairfield County Children's Choir will wrap up its 15th anniversary season next month with a spring performance and tribute to the United States Armed Forces Saturday, May 8th. This concert, to be held at the Klein Memorial Auditorium at 7:00 pm, will also continue with this year's theme "The Best of the FCCC" featuring signature pieces from the choir's past 14 years voted as favorites by the members of the choir.  Among those winning most votes for an encore were popular numbers like "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and "Basin Street Blues."

Joining the 250 choristers in four ensembles will be special guest Lt. Colonel Timothy Holtan, Commander and Conductor of the U.S. Military Academy Band at West Point, with whom the FCCC has collaborated many times over the past 14 years.   In the spirit of the evening's tribute theme,  LTC Holtan will conduct the choir on an Armed Forces medley,  as well as  Dry Your Tears, Afrika (from the movie Amistad) and Nigra Sum.  LTC Holtan will also receive the FCCC's Annual High Notes Award, bestowed upon an individual or group that has made a significant impact as a musician, music educator, or musical leader.
