Forbidden Westport Show Spoofs Town

Once again, “Forbidden Westport”, a satiric musical in the best Broadway tradition, comes to our town the evening of April 30th.  FBW III is a hilarious musical comedy revue, spoofing numerous Westport issues and organizations, while showcasing the talents of their members– from The Board of Selectmen to the Historical Society and Green Village Initiative.

The brainchild of Sunrise Rotary’s John Franklin, Forbidden Westport was last produced in 2004, raising the down-payment for “Rotary House,” an affordable multi-family housing unit for some of Westport’s formerly homeless.

The audience was treated to solo performances by First Selectwoman Diane Farrell singing “Brown Bag Mama,” and School Superintendent Elliott Landon performing an outrageous version of “Big Spender.” Other standout numbers featured the PTA, a skit about serial gala fund-raisers (“Going Broke in Westport”) and a Rockette-style kick-line featuring members of the Women’s Club, as well as State Representative Ken Bernard and Third Selectman John Izzo, in drag.
