Ninth Annual Mother's Day Weekend Art Show and Sale

A dozen artists from the Fairfield County region will be exhibiting art at the Ninth Annual Mother's Day Weekend Art Show and Sale this weekend, May 7 and 8, 2011.  Presented by the Friends of Hall-Brooke, the show is hung in the Community Room of St. Vincent's Medical Center, Behavioral Health Service, Westport Campus (formerly known as Hall-Brooke Hospital), 47 Long Lots Road, Westport, CT.

Participating artists include Karen Ford, Miggs Burroughs, Karen Silver Bloom, Dana Goodfellow, Ken Scaglia, Elise Black, Mary Manning, Diane Weeks, Joy van Hemert, Tom Kretsch, Amy Oestreicher and Rosa E. Colón.  Ms. Ford was judged Best of Show in 2007 & 2009.

The show's admission & refreshments are all free of charge, as the event is a gift to the regional community from the Friends of Hall-Brooke.  Door prize tickets are also available at the event for a chance at winning wonderful items from local shops and restaurants.  
Show hours are:

  • Saturday, May 7, Noon to 8 PM with the Meet the Artists Gala Reception, 6-8 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 8, Bring Your Mom Day, Noon-4 p.m.


A Best of Show Award of $500 will be presented at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, May 7, during the Meet the Artists Gala Reception.  In addition, the work of Westport artist Howard Munce will be celebrated during the Meet the Artists Gala Reception.

Artists Julie O’Connor, Lynn Stephens Massey and Lori Glavin are show curators. Helen Klisser During, Director of Visual Arts at the Westport Arts Center, is show Juror.  People's United Bank, Jerry’s Artarama and Castle Wine & Spirits are generous supporters of this event.

A 40 percent portion of show sales supports the efforts of the Friends of Hall-Brooke, a volunteer group with the mission to destigmatize mental illness through community outreach and education, and to enhance the excellent clinical care provided by St. Vincent's Behavioral Health Services.  Information on Friends membership is available at the Mother's Day Art Show.
