The People Vs. Abraham

In an age of Judge Judy, Judge Joe Brown, and The People's Court, The Conservative Synagogue in Westport, is going back several thousand years to put Abraham on trial for child endangerment and the attempted murder of his son Isaac.  On December 12th, from 4-6pm, the Synagogue's sanctuary will be transformed into a courtroom for this exciting and most postponed trial based on the Akedah, in the book of Genesis 22, otherwise known as the binding of Isaac, in which Abraham takes his son to a mountain and prepares to sacrifice him, only to be stopped by an intervening angel.  Presiding as Judge will be Stephen Krawitz of Westport.  Westonite Bruce Koffsky will serve as Defense Attorney and Jim Glasser, also of Weston, will the be the prosecutor.  Members of the community will make up the jury, with open deliberations to follow the trial.  Some of the witnesses called to the stand will include Abraham's wife Sarah, Isaac, and Abraham himself. The Trial of Abraham is free to attend and open to everyone.  RSVP to The Conservative Synagogue at (203) 454-4673. The Conservative Synagogue is located at 30 Hillspoint Road in Westport. Childcare is available upon request in advance.
