Veterans Day Social at Earthplace

The will host a gathering for members and guests 7-9 p.m. Thursday Nov. 11, at in honor of the club's members who have served in the armed forces.  

Guests will have a chance to tour the Earthplace facilities and learn about the mission of this 62-acre wildlife sanctuary, discovery center and teaching facility.  

The Bakers' Dozen, a Yale a cappella singing group founded in 1947, will provide a diverse repertoire of musical entertainment for the event. The group's performances have included shows at the White House and at half time for the Los Angeles Lakers. They are currently fund raising for a China tour in the spring.

The evening will also be highlighted by the presentation of a Rotary Grant to Family Re-Entry to support its Fresh Start Program in Bridgeport. Family Re-Entry's Fresh Start program serves as a model for urban communities faced with the problems of crime and recidivism.  

It works with soon-to-be released prisoners before they leave prison, during transition and after they come home.

Food and drink will be served.  There will be a $20 cost for non-member guests, who must RSVP by Tuesday November 9.  To RSVP, or for more information, contact Dave Matlow, Westport Rotary membership chair, at 203-227-3090.
