Workshop for Parents on Reading Aloud to Children

There's nothing better than reading to a child, and now you can learn how to read aloud to a whole group of kids. At an hour-long Workshop on Reading Aloud to Children at Westport Library on Wednesday, October 13, at 12:30 pm, Westport children's librarians will model techniques for reading aloud to kids.

These techniques are not only useful for parents but also recommended for education majors, teachers, and any adults who read aloud. This program will be held in the McManus Room and is free but requires online registration by going to the Library's website www.westportlibrary.org.

If you find that you enjoy reading aloud to a group of children, you may want to volunteer for the School Volunteer Association's (SVA) Read Aloud Day in Bridgeport on October 21. Every pre-K through 6th Grade class will be read to by a volunteer and given a new hardcover book for their classroom library. For more information about the SVA and its programs, or to become a volunteer, call the SVA offices at 203-576-7808 or 203-371-4617.
