After a 20-year run, Coach will close its doors in Westport, according to property owner Lee Papageorge.
The handbag and accessory store will have to be out on the last day of April so Papageorge’s new tenants can move in. Madewell, a company owned by JCREW, will take Coach's place at 155 Main Street, Papageorge. Construction on the new store will begin May 1 and should be complete within three months, he said.
JCREW and Co. already has the permits to demolish the walls and begin construction, he said. The company plans to rip up the current tiles and add wood floors, Papageorge said.
“The only thing they don’t have is a permit for the store front, which they are going for now,” Papageorge said.

Coach has been next to Oscar’s Deli for 10 years. The business was located next to Westport Pizza for an addition 10 years prior to opening in its current location, Papageorge said.
"Coach is changing their retail model,” he said, adding that Coach is also closing stores in Greenwich and New York.
