Cru, which will have an international menu featuring American, Pacific, and Mediterranean cuisine, will open before the end of May beneath the Gap on Main Street in downtown Westport.
Co-owner Steven Prokop, who also owns Cuvee in West Hartford, said it was a "no brainer" for he and his partner, Todd Rose, to open another restaurant in Fairfield County.
"We thought it was a smart area. We got hooked up with David Waldman and thought it was a great location for exactly what we want to do," Prokop said.
Cru will have a "retro speak-easy" feel to it, according to operational manager Amanda Moffo. The bar will seat more than 30 people and will also feature a sushi bar.
"A lot of people that live around here go to where the nightlife is in Stamford and SoNo and I think with the addiction of all the new restaurants that are coming to town, Westport will be more of a destination," Prokop said, adding that most people leave the downtown area after the retail stores close at 6 p.m.
Prokop said he intends to open Cru within the next three weeks.
