Rarely do Connecticut residents catch themselves saying, “At least we don’t live in Hawaii,” but that might be the case after perusing Money-Rates.com’s list of the Best and Worst States to Make a Living 2014.

Connecticut was ranked the fifth-worst state to make a living, with Rhode Island, Mississippi, New York and Hawaii the only states scoring worse.

The rankings were based a metric that weighed average salary, cost of living, employment rate and workplace conditions.

Connecticut fell nine places since last year’s list, Money-Rates reported, because of high costs of living, high unemployment and poor workplace conditions.

Do you think it's difficult to make a living in Connecticut?

Where did you move to, Nancy? I'm guessing some place with lower taxes, fewer anti-business and anti-JOBS regulations. Dannel Malloy has made this state bleed JOBS and business creators, as well as TAX PAYERS!!

YES, "it's difficult to make a living in Connecticut"!!! Duh! Obama makes it difficult anywhere, with his doubling the cost of gas, health insurance, etc. Then you add on the depredations of Dannel 88, to line the pockets of his UNION and other CRONY SOCIALIST buddies (his campaign DONORS) as he continues to grow Government bureaucracies--and it's nigh impossible for more and more folks!!!

40 years of Democrat rule and we see the results. Worst Roads and bridges in the Nation, Worst state to retire, 5th worst to work in, Highest tax burden, highest energy costs. Seriously how much longer before we benchmark a State like Wisconsin? I have ZERO confidence that the CT Gop will bring it home this Nov

Harry, shame on you to be so Defeatist as you are in your last sentence! Are you planning to stay home and not vote on election day?

You mean 40+ years of capitalist rule, democrat or not.
