Westport's Downunder Fitness & Surf Offers CORfit Workout

The studio offers a total body workout through its exclusive CORfit program, which is based on a unique blend of balance, coordination, core, upper and lower body exercises that replicate the on-water stand-up paddle board experience.

Downunder CT, Connecticut’s only on-water, full service kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding operation, is changing up old fitness routines with the opening of Downunder Fitness & Surf studio located at 15 Ketchum Street in the Westport Dance Center.

Downunder Fitness & Surf Director Karen Jewel said she was excited to expand the company's market and introduce a very unique training program for people of all ages and skill levels, while also bringing something new and exciting to their existing clientele.

"Westport has a large community of fitness-focused and healthy-minded people. We have had great success with Downunder CT during the last year and a half and feel that Downunder Fitness & Surf will be a nice, natural addition," Jewel said.

"There are a variety of sports and recreational opportunities, health and wellness businesses, and school athletics that are such a huge part of Westport," she said. "This community is always eager to try something new, and we're confident our programs will be a hit."

Westport residents enjoy their fitness, but they also take it seriously, she said.

"Westport and area residents are smart. They want to enjoy their lives and know that staying fit and healthy will allow them to do the things they love well into their retirement years," Jewel said.
