The driving school, which opened its doors on March 1, is looking to serve new teen drivers and their families in the Wilton, Westport and Weston area.

Fresh Green Light, an innovative driving school for new teen drivers and their parents, is now offering services in the Wilton, Westport and Weston are beginning.

The new Wilton-based driving school opened its doors on March 1.

“We know these communities need another driver training option that’s convenient, effective and affordable,” says Laura Shuler, co-founder of Fresh Green Light, stated in a press release. “We’re excited to offer our proven approach to teens and parents in this part of Connecticut.”

“Our students report dramatically fewer accidents compared to the national average,” Mochel stated.

Mochel added that while accident rates for new teen drivers are reported to be as high as 50 percent during the first year of driving, only 12.5 percent of Fresh Green Light students report having an accident their first year on the road.

“That’s a 75 percent reduction in accident risk,” he stated.

In a 2012 report on global best practices in driver training, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration featured Fresh Green Light’s program, describing it as “above and beyond most basic driver education programs.”

Fresh Green Light was the only U.S. driving school to be profiled in the report.

In addition to creating a better outcome, Mochal says Fresh Green Light "focuses equally on quality and convenience, which has earned the company a 95 percent customer satisfaction rating from parents."

“Teens today are extremely busy with packed schedules, and so are their parents,” he stated. “So convenience is critical. We offer that in spades.”

Driving lessons can be scheduled online, with home or school pick up and drop off.

DMV-mandated driver education classes are offered on weeknights and weekends, with open enrollment that allows students to attend classes in any order, at their convenience, over any length of time.

Classes will be held at the centrally-located Comstock Community Center in Wilton, which is less than a 10 minute drive for the majority of parents in Wilton, Weston and portions of Westport, Mochel said.

The DMV Road Test will be offered in Wilton beginning in June.

“We’re excited to become part of the community and create safer young drivers on the surrounding roads,” Shuler stated in the release.
