Westport's FACES Beautiful Wins Major Beauty Award

Westport's FACES Beautiful has been honored by Bella Magazine, a New York City-based beauty publication.

The FACES Beautiful Brush-On Liquid Mineral foundation won the Bella Beauty Award's 2013 honor for best foundation, a major recognition for the independent Westport beauty retailer.

FACES Beautiful owner -- and creator of the FACES Beautiful makeup and skincare line -- Gail Sagel said the award is a "big deal." FACES Beautiful was up against major makeup companies like Revlon, Sephora, and Clinique.

While FACES Beautiful has been a Westport staple since 2000, Sagel began the award-winning skincare and makeup line in 2009, and it's "evolving," she said.

"I work with women all day, listen to their needs, solve their problems," Sagel said -- and so the idea to create a makeup and skincare line came about from conversations with clients.

"I think I created something that brings a lot of value to what women want in their daily routine."

Sagel wanted to take the mess out of powdered mineral foundation -- and her brush-on formula is mess-free. Bella took notice and so bestowed the award on FACES Beautiful.

The recognition comes at a good time for FACES Beautiful --the studio will soon launch massage and massage therapy services and Sagel has published a how-to makeup book.

"Making Faces Beautiful" shares Sagel's makeup philosophies. She teaches readers three essential techniques through the makeup book.

"You don't need more than three techniques," Sagel said.

The book is sprinkled with statements and sayings in Sagel's quippy style, meant to help the reader to look and feel prettier.

"Makeup is like every part of life -- try something new," Sagel said, reflective of the statements she makes in the book.
