Laplaca, Nevas, Silvestri and Young-Named 2013SUPER LAWYERS™ Silvestri in top 50 for third straight year

WESTPORT, CT., October 22, 2013 – A full third of a Westport-based law firm’s principals has been designated as 2013 Connecticut Super Lawyers™, the firm announced today.

This is the third straight year that Nevas and Silvestri were honored by their peers for their business litigation practices.  Silvestri was further recognized for the third straight year as one of the top 50 lawyers in the state.

Laplaca litigates business disputes involving restrictive covenants, unfair competition, goods and services, commercial real property, negotiable instruments and business management.  His practice includes trial work in both federal and state courts in Connecticut and New York as well as commercial arbitration.  He recently obtained a $5.5 million arbitration award before the International Chamber of Commerce after a multi-day hearing in London in a case involving non-payment of consulting fees.

 

Nevas practices primarily in the field of civil and matrimonial litigation, representing both corporate and individual clients in a wide variety of matters in state and federal courts and in arbitration proceedings.  He has litigated numerous matters involving divorces, construction contracts, commercial and residential leases, real property disputes, mortgage foreclosures, commercial and residential property tax appeals, employment disputes, probate appeals, trade secrets disputes and the defense of medical malpractice and premises liability actions.

 

Silvestri, a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, represents clients in business disputes.  Earlier this year, he successfully defended a closely held corporation against a claim asserted by preferred shareholders for control of the board of directors.

Young heads up Levett Rockwood's Corporate and Business Transactions Group of 12 attorneys , which has an active practice in the areas of private equity and fund work, securities, mergers and acquisitions, general business counseling and transactions, as well as information technology and social media.
