National Law Firm Wilson Elser Opens Second Connecticut Office in Hartford

Hartford Marks 25th U.S. Office for the AmLaw 200 Firm

National law firm Wilson Elser is pleased to announce the opening of a Hartford office on January 2, 2014 – its 25th U.S. office and the second in Connecticut. The firm opened its Stamford office in 2004.

“A growing Connecticut-based Government Affairs practice led by partner David Rose and a response to client demand were the impetus for opening the Hartford office,” explained Brian Del Gatto, managing partner of the Connecticut region.

“Though we’ve always serviced the entire state from our Stamford and Boston offices, an office in Hartford puts us in the epicenter of the insurance industry and in proximity to our clients throughout New England.”

In February 2011 when Mr. Rose joined the firm, Wilson Elser expanded its Government Affairs practice beyond New York, where it has been the top ranked lobbying firm for 16 years running by the New York State Joint Commission on Public Ethics. Mr. Rose’s 21 years of government affairs experience, which includes holding the position of senior counsel for two Connecticut speakers of the house and assistant counsel for three New York state governors, as well as his extensive legal experience have catapulted the practice into one of the most formidable in the state.

“David has been extremely effective at monitoring legislative and regulatory developments for our clients, as well as protecting or advancing their interests throughout Connecticut government,” Mr. Del Gatto shared.

The Government Affairs practice serves a diverse array of clients, advising them on public policy, legislation, regulation, procurement and appropriations before the Connecticut General Assembly and executive branch. In all of these areas, Wilson Elser offers far more than access to lawmakers and regulators.

“Wilson Elser offers sound and sensible strategies designed to resolve complex legislative and legal issues,” said Mr. Rose. “This typically involves marshaling any of a vast number of resources – within our Government Affairs practice and throughout our office network – and leveraging our strong and enduring relationships with governmental and quasi-governmental entities.”

In addition to Government Affairs, attorneys in the Hartford office offer the firm’s full complement of services, encompassing more than 50 practices.

“With partner Stephen Brown heading up our Connecticut-based litigation practice, David leading our Government Affairs practice and Eric Niederer growing our Health Care practice, we are looking forward to joining with our Boston office to bolster our presence throughout New England,” added Mr. Del Gatto.

Wilson Elser, a full-service and leading defense litigation law firm (www.wilsonelser.com), serves its clients with nearly 800 attorneys in 25 offices in the United States, one in London and through a network of affiliates in key regions globally.  Founded in 1978, it ranks among the top 200 law firms identified by The American Lawyer and is included in the top 50 of The National Law Journal's survey of the nation’s largest law firms.  Wilson Elser serves a growing, loyal base of clients with innovative thinking and an in-depth understanding of their respective businesses.
