Westport Native Allen Clark Opens Debut Fine Art Photography Exhibit: UNDER SAIL

Allen Clark, a nationally-known photographer and Westport native, debuts his fine art marine photography collection at the gallery at Greenwich Tavern this summer. The collection is titled UNDER SAIL, and includes a combination of high color and classic sepia images, all taken on the water, many in extreme weather conditions. Allen explains: “Every one of my photos is the result of a carefully calculated position I put myself in on the water. I have to pay attention to the wind direction, waves and current, sun angle, clouds, the shadows created by the sails, and even the sail trim and position of the people on board. But most of all, I love the adrenaline rush from being out on the race course in heavy-wind conditions.”

Allen is a self-taught photographer and seasoned sailor. As a boat delivery captain, he has logged thousands of miles at sea, including trips to Bermuda and the Caribbean. Allen’s regatta photography brand, PhotoBoat.com, is known throughout the United States sailboat racing community. He is regularly published in national sailing magazines such as Sailing World and SAIL.

UNDER SAIL will be on view through September 10th at The Gallery at Greenwich Tavern located at 392 E. Putnam Ave, Old Greenwich, CT. An artist’s reception will be held on Thursday June 21st from 5:30-7:30. For more information, please call 203.869.033 or go to http://www.photosbyclark.com/show
