  • First Selectman Gordon Joseloff issued a statement Thursday about Westport’s preparations for Hurricane Irene.
  • Dozens of Westport boat owners removed their boats from Longshore and Compo marinas Thursday evening as they expect the worst from Irene and hope for the best.
  • Party band extraordinaire, "Celebration" features seven musicians including a three-piece horn section, together with a set list and road show designed to rock your socks off. They will perform at from 8 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.
  • Rockwell Art Gallery in Westport brings the geometric figurative paintings of Fernande Lipton together with a Westport favorite, painter Claudia Mengel in TRANS-FIGURATION, an event that runs through Oct. 14. A reception will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the art gallery.
  • Attend the Rowayton Farmers Market in Norwalk. Over 20 local farmers, producers and artisans set up every Friday in historical Pinkney Park with its sweeping views of the 5 Mile River and Long Island Sound right in the heart of downtown seaside Rowayton. Shop and picnic right there!
