5 Things All About Westport: August 2

RTM tonight, 'Double Down' to rock the Levitt, seminar on neurofeedback treatment for ADHD and more.

  • The Representative Town Meeting will meet at 8 p.m. at Town Hall. On the agenda is a request by the Deputy Police Chief for an appropriation of $90,000 to the Railroad Parking Account (Storm Expenses) in order to cover snow removal expenses incurred during the winter storms of 2010-11; a request to add the property and building located at 93 Cross Highway as a historic property under Chapter 38-24 of the Code of Ordinances; and a request to approve the recommendations of the joint committees of the RTM in response to a petition requesting the RTM and the first selectman to implement a plan for the control of the Town’s deer herd, among other action items.
  • The ’s seemingly never-ending parade of summer shows continues at 8 p.m. tonight with the band . This five-member rock group covers “the best of Classic Rock, R&B and Funk – with a jazzy touch.” The Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts is located behind the Westport Library at 40 Jesup Road. The concert is free.
  • Looking for a more informal book group where you can read what you want and discuss it afterward? Then the informal book chats at the Westport Public Library are just for you. Just stop by the library’s McManus Room at 10 a.m. the first Tuesday of the month and talk about whatever you’re reading.
  • Did you know that there is a medication-free treatment for children with ADHD? Anthony Silver, Director of Gray Matters, Connecticut’s sole provider of neurofeedback technology for children with ADHD, will host an at Christ and Holy Trinity Church, 55 Myrtle Avenue. Silver will discuss parenting strategies; treatment options; the use of the latest technology in QEEG (brain mapping); and how neurofeedback can re-train the brain to eliminate the need for medication.   • Did you know that you can get your driver’s license renewed at the AAA office located at 419 Post Road East, in the Compo Shopping Center? License renewals will resume today at the AAA office following extensive computer upgrades for the licensing process. The AAA office is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
