A New Orleans-style party and Justin Bieber make headlines in Westport.

  • Is the winter finally winding down? There’s a slight chance of rain after 3 p.m with a high near a comparatively pleasant 39 degrees. Tonight, rain and snow is likely before midnight, but the total accumulation is expected to be only a half inch.
  • Some of Staples High School’s top athletes are attending some of the best schools in the country. was provided by Patch’s sports editor and photographer.
  • On this day in 1964, Beatlemania arrived from the U.K. when The Beatles touched down in New York City. Nearly 50 years later, something called Bieber fever is infecting the nation and Westport is not immune. A group of local girls to attend a private screening of his new film and there’s a rumor pop star Justin Bieber will stop by.
  • Thanks to the nasty weather, Westport is over its surplus of available snow days. A decision on what to do about it – from extending the school year to shortening spring break – will likely be made by the Board of Education tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Staples High School auditorium.
  • The Westport Public Library’s annual WestportReads event is ending on a high note. On Friday at 8 p.m., a will take place with live jazz and New Orleans cuisine. A portion of the proceeds goes to the Zeitoun Foundation, which benefits human rights, and the rest goes to the library. Tickets are $75 and more information can be found here.
