5 Things All About Westport: Jan. 18

Here's your local guide to all things Westport.

  • An inch to an inch-and-a-half of snow and freezing rain is forecast for today, according to the National Weather Service. Snow is expected before 9 a.m., followed by freezing rain from 9 a.m. to noon. A mix of snow and rain is forecast to continue through Tuesday night and into Wednesday. State officials about the added weight of precipitation and how it might cause some roofs or decks to crack or collapse, so be careful. 
  • Do you love Korean barbeque? Well, then you might enjoy this week's speaker at the Westport Rotary Club. , an expert in Korean culture and cuisine, will address the club  at noon today at the Veterans of Foreign Wars at 465 Riverside Avenue in Westport. Pak, who came to the United States in 1986, is currently president of the Flushing-based Taste of Korea. Guests are always welcome at Rotary meetings.   •  is offering one of its weekly nature activities today dedicated entirely to . Children who participate only need to look outside, but inside Earthplace staffers will help them make their own snow too. The program runs from 4 to 5 p.m.
  • The Representative Town Meeting meets at 8 p.m. tonight in Town Hall and will tackle a controversial zoning regulation that could make hundreds of homes nonconforming, difficult to renovate, or even sell, according to some. An RTM committee has favored overturning a Planning and Zoning decision on the matter. Click for more on this story.
