5 Things All About Westport: July 26

Connecticut Ballet at the Levitt; Tech Tuesday at the Library and more

  • The Connecticut Ballet, celebrating its 30th Anniversary Season, will perform a diverse repertoire of new works, masterworks, and great story ballets at 8 p.m. , 40 Jesup Road. Come for an exquisite evening of classical and contemporary dance and ballet performed by the state’s professional ballet company.
  • The Zoning Board of Appeals will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Hall auditorium. On the agenda is consideration of requests for variances for projects at: 222 Post Road West (to install a wall sign above the second story window); 4 Berkeley Road (variance to setbacks to cover existing deck with screened porch); 117 Harbor Road (for house renovations for FEMA compliance with a new second floor); 8 Gorham Avenue (for renovations and additions to existing house); and 919 Post Road East (to replace new building, parking lot and driveway).
  • Got a technical question about a gadget or an application? Bring it to the Westport Library’s “Tech Tuesdays” session, held 2-4 p.m. Tuesdays through August 2. Bring your tech questions — including simple challenges such as how to download music or scan photos — and the library staff will supply the answers. You can also try out tablet PCs and e-readers.
  • The Christo/Jeanne-Claude exhibit featuring the massive-scale environmental art projects “Over the River, Project for the Arkansas River, State of Colorado” and “The Mastaba, Project for the United Arab Emirates,” continues this week at the Westport Arts Center, 51 Riverside Avenue. The exhibit runs through Sept. 4. Gallery Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday; and 12 noon to 4 p.m., Sunday.
  • The Westport Country Playhouse’s production of “Lips Together, Teeth Apart,” by Terrence McNally and directed by Mark Lamos, continues This is the last week for the production, which concludes its run on July 30.
