5 Things All About Westport: July 29

Baron's South Committee meets; Classic Cars on display; the Nu-Utopians at the Levitt Pavilion and more...

  • The Baron’s South Committee has “Site Visit Reports;” “Community Meeting Plans;” and “Request for Proposal” on the agenda for its meeting at 9:30 a.m. in Room 309, Town Hall. The committee is charged with developing a plan to to the town-owned Baron’s South property.
  • Classic automobiles, food and a live DJ will make for a great evening of fun when the Connecticut Seaport Car Club brings its fleet of cool cars to the lot at 176 Post Road West from 6 to 9 p.m. The event, which is free to the public, will be repeated on August 12.
  • If there’s anything left of the stage after last night’s explosive performance by the Doobie Brothers, the — “a unique and compelling 7-piece ensemble that celebrates the genius and artistry of the late John Lennon” — will perform at 8 p.m. tonight at the , 40 Jesup Road. The band “gives remarkably fresh treatments to Lennon’s best and least known Beatles and solo compositions.”
  • The Westport Country Playhouse’s production of “Lips Together, Teeth Apart,” by Terrence McNally and directed by Mark Lamos, continues Two couples gather at a Fire Island beach house to celebrate the Fourth of July and end up revealing their anxieties about impending middle age and the world's hidden threats. “This hilarious account of people struggling against their limitations is as perceptive about the way we live today as any comedy the American theater has produced in years,” the Playhouse’s website states. The play concludes its run on July 30.
