5 Things All About Westport: May 2

Big things are are afoot this week in Westport.

  • Today begins the gruelling final step for Westport's budget. The Representative Town Meeting will meet up to three nights (meetings can last until 1 a.m.) to put the finishing touches on the municipal and school budgets. It's an important process that will affect taxes, quality of life and the future of Westport's finance. The talks begin tonight tonight at 7:30 p.m.
  • The Westport Woman's Club on 44 Imperial Ave. is having a today. Organizers say there will be  "beautiful flowering annuals, garden planters and window boxes" in addition to a selection of tropical plants, lush hanging baskets, and herb planters that will make wonderful Mother’s Day gifts." The timing of the holiday, and the weather, couldn't be better.
  • Amy Chua, the author of the controversial yet wildly popular "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother" is speaking at a tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the Westport Country Playhouse. about the backlash caused by her book, among other things.
  • If there's one thing Westport isn't lacking, it's pizza places. A poll on Westport Patch's Facebook page asks which one is the best. Tough decision. 
  • Also at the Westport Country Playhouse is their latest production, Come check out this play by Christopher Durang about a couple's therapy adventures following a disastrous first date.
