5 Things All About Westport: Sept. 8

Governor Malloy holds 9/11 memorial service at Sherwood Island State Park, Kick off Fashion's Night Out with Agabhumi- The Best of Bali and more.

  • Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman, on behalf of the State of Connecticut, will hold a of Sept. 11, 2001 at at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The sculpture made in part from aluminum cladding from the World Trade Center will also be unveiled, honoring those the state lost. In addition, an American flag that flew over Forward Operating Base Mehtar Lam in Afghanistan will be presented to the state by the 1st Battalion 102nd Infantry Regiment. Family members of those who were killed on 9/11 will join the memorial service, and each victim’s name will be read aloud. 
  • Kick off Fashion’s Night Out with on September 8th from 6 to 9 p.m. with an evening to satisfy a healthy appetite for fall fashion, exotic beauty, savory appetizers and chic cocktails.
