Case Continues for Former School Librarian

Coleytown drug theft case resumes in May.

NORWALK – The case of a former Coleytown Elementary School librarian arrested for from a co-worker has been continued until May 6.

Judge Bruce P. Hudock scheduled a supervised pre-trial hearing to address the case of Sarah Merriman Spencer, 47, a Trumbull resident who was arrested January 5 after an investigation by the Westport Police Department. Detectives charged that she had been stealing the drugs from the co-worker’s purse, which was kept in a locked file cabinet. She has pleaded innocent to all charges.

She is charged with sixth-degree larceny, obtaining drugs illegally, and possession of drugs near a school. She no longer works for the school.

Neither Spencer nor her attorney, William Westcott, would comment after Wednesday’s brief court session. Spencer has been free on a promise to appear.
