FEMA encourages you to register even if you have insurance, have registered with another agency, or have filed a flood insurance claim.

Westport Fire Chief Andrew Kingsbury, the Town’s Emergency Management Director, reminds residents the deadline to register with FEMA for Hurricane Sandy disaster assistance is February 12, 2013.

FEMA encourages you to register even if you have insurance, have registered with another agency, or have filed a flood insurance claim.

Residents can register online anytime day or night at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or with a smartphone at m.fema.gov.  Residents can also register, check status of an application, or receive other assistance at the FEMA Helpline 800-621-3362.  Residents only have until Tuesday, February 12, 2013, to do so.

Westporters that may have questions about elevating their home out of the floodplain, and any assistance that may be available to do so, are asked to first register with FEMA, and then contact Michele in Westport’s Office of Emergency Management at (203) 341-5024.
