First Night Still On; Only Light Snow Expected

Westport Weather Whiz Jacob Meisel reports.

We have a light storm affecting the area.  We are expecting up to 2-4 inches of snow that should continue throughout the day.  Light snow showers should continue throughout the weekend after this storm passes through.  It will be mainly snow, with a slight chance of a little rain mixing in late today and tomorrow afternoon.  The bottom line is that this is NOT a big storm, but could still cause some traffic problems.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory today calling for light snow until about 6 p.m.

Though snow is falling, First Night is still set to go. On the First Night blog, Barbara Pearson-Rac, president of the First Night Board, encourages everyone to weather the storm.

"All of our entertainment is indoors, and although everything is in walking distance, parking your car a short distance from a venue is also possible," she writes in the blog. "So bundle up, wear your boots and join us because we will be there to make your First Night experience wonderful. The entertainers, crews and lots of volunteers can't wait to greet you, entertain you and help you celebrate 2010 as a community!"
