Friends of Westport Senior Center Host Fifth Annual Super Bowl Party

Many members came out to show support for Lifetime Achievement Award winner Fran Reynolds.

About 100 people of all ages came together Sunday for the Fifth Annual Super Bowl Tailgate Party at the Westport Center for Senior Activities.

Center Director Susan Pfister said she was pleased many of the center's members, family and friends came not only to support their teams, but also Fran Reynolds.

Reynolds was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Friends of the Westport Center for Senior Activities for her years of tireless service helping seniors. The award also recognized her 25 years as the center's Senior Services Coordinator.

Reynolds, honored to receive the award,  joked with the crowd as she looked over at the Staples Cheerleaders, who attended the event. "Many of you probably don't know this but I was a head cheerleader for the Junior High School East team," she said. "But don't worry — I promised my granddaughter I wouldn't do any cheers tonight."  Reynolds spoke of her many years in public service, the support of other volunteers and what a great honor it was to be receiving the award.

The Staples and PAL cheerleaders, who also attended, lead the crowd in several spirited cheers at the event. Other guests included public officials, the Staples High School offensive football coach Mac DeVito and three senior members from this year's championship team.
