This week, kids get ready for spring, families learn about the importance of healthy eating habits and senior cheerleaders and football players host a benefit fashion show.


FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

Where/When:    on Mar. 15 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go: Explore the trails and find some of the first signs of spring, including one of the first flowering plants, animals you can hear or see that we have not been able to since the fall, and see whats happening to the trees.
Pricing: $18 non-members, $8 members

Where/When:    on Mar. 15 from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Why Go: Kids of all ages are invited to the Higgins Room at the library to share the adventure of stories from near and far!
Pricing:   FREE

 

Where/When:   on Mar. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
Why Go: Take the whole family for this important and informative discussion on childhood nutrition and its impact on children. discussion will include the effects of a poor diet on their health now and their health as they mature into adults and what parents can do to insure that they will avoid many of the known ill effects that are associated with a poor diet.
Pricing:    Admission is free. Space is limited, please reserve early.

Where/When:   on Mar. 18 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Why Go: The 14th annual "Varsity Vogue" Fashion Show and Auction will honor all senior Football and Basketball players and Varsity Cheerleaders and the captains of each team and senior cheerleaders will model Mitchells clothing.  Proceeds raised will help support Staples Cheerleading Program; in addition contributions will be made to the  Gridiron concession stand project, PAL Cheerleading and St. Vincents Cancer Center on behalf of Mitchells.
Pricing:   $5 for Students      $15 for Adults



Where/When: Pequot Library in Southport on Mar. 21.
Why Go:  This class will offer kids in grades 3-5  free afterschool sessions to practice CHI - an ancient mind-body practice from China. In addition, kids will learn the five animal frolics, how to hug a tree; taste healthy Chinese teas and the five flavors of food and try Chinese brush painting.
Pricing:   FREE. Registration required.
