High Winds, Possible Flooding in Westport

Total rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2 inches are forecast from Friday's storm system.

With rain expected to continue through Friday evening and plenty of snow still left on the ground, the National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Westport and surrounding areas effective through Saturday morning.

Total rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2 inches are forecast from the system, which may include brief but intense downpours and thunderstorms.

"The combination of high rainfall rates, a current snow pack, and frozen ground could result in significant flooding of urban areas, roadways, and underpasses, as well as small streams," the service warns.
