Medical Examiner Rules Westport Death a Suicide

The man was reportedly spotted by a passerby in downtown Westport Monday morning.

 

The Connecticut Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled a suicide by a shotgun wound to the head, according to a spokesman for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington.

48-year-old James Barber, of Westport, was found in the wooded edge of the Elm Street parking lot in downtown Westport.

“Responding officers located a white male in the wooded area who was deceased from an apparent self inflicted gun shot wound,” Westport Police Captain Sam Arciola said Monday.

 The Detective Bureau was on scene handling the investigation Monday.
