National Safe Boating Week Declared in Westport
First Selectman Gordon Joseloff has declared this week National Safe Boating Week in Westport.
A proclamation notes that Westport's proximity to the Saugatuck River
and Long Island Sound makes boating one of the most popular recreational activities.
"It is the personal obligation of boaters to ensure the safety and well being of all life, and the legal and moral responsibility of each and
every boater to protect life and property while enjoying their craft," the proclamation said.
Joseloff urged all boating enthusiasts to pledge to continue the spirit
of Safe Boating Week throughout the entire boating season.
