Nearly 7,000 Westporters Without Power
Power outages were reported across Westport because of Hurricane Irene.
At 11:02 a.m., Frank Poirot, a spokesman for the Connecticut Light and Power Company (CL & P) said 6,965 Westport residents were without power.
"That represents about 65 percent of all our customers in town," Poirot said in a phone interview Sunday.
Approximately 522,000 people are in the dark statewide, according to Poirot.
