Newtown Kids Will Perform for Grammys

Newtown kids will sing a live spot for the Grammy awards from Connecticut alongside American Idol host Ryan Seacrest, Newtown Music Project director Sabrina Post told USA Today. Proceeds will go to the Newtown Youth Academy
Seacrest will conduct a live interview with children, and a pre-recorded performance of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" will be broadcast out to audiences watching the Grammys around the globe. Co-producer Tim Hayes told Broadway World the 21-member choir would also perform Carly Rae Jepsen's 2012 pop hit "Call Me Maybe," to be broadcast live.

Newtown children's singing voices have been heard far and wide across America lately. The group of children singing at the Grammys previously performed "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" for Good Morning America with singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson and members of the Talking Heads. Another group, the Sandy Hook Elementary Chorus led by Maryrose Kristopik, took the field in the Super Bowl's pre-show, singing "America the Beautiful" with Jennifer Hudson just before the National Anthem.
The Grammy Awards will air at 8 p.m. EST, Sunday, Feb. 10, on CBS.
